Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your 9×13-inch baking pan by greasing it lightly.
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until golden brown.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool for a few minutes.
  4. Combine the brown sugar and granulated sugar in a large mixing bowl.
  5. Pour in the warm brown butter and mix until smooth and creamy.
  6. Add the eggs one at a time, along with the vanilla extract, and beat until well combined.
  7. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl.
  8. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, stirring gently until combined.
  9. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  11. Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
  12. Whisk together the powdered sugar, maple syrup, and milk for the glaze.
  13. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bars, then cut into squares.
