Description

Delightful Italian doughnuts filled with your favorite flavors, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 1/2 cup milk, warmed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Pastry cream, chocolate, or jam (for filling)
  • Oil (for frying)
  • Sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Combine the warm milk and yeast in a bowl. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Whisk together the flour, sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Pour in the yeast mixture, followed by the eggs and melted butter. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface, knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm area until doubled, about 1 to 2 hours.
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/2 inch thick and cut into circles.
  7. Let the circles rise on a floured surface for another 30 minutes.
  8. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) in a deep fryer or large pot, then fry the doughnuts until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  9. Remove them from the oil and let drain on paper towels. Roll each doughnut in sugar while still warm.
  10. Fill each doughnut with your choice of filling using a piping bag or spoon.
