Ingredients

  • 2 pounds of potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet)
  • 2 cups of heavy cream
  • 1 cup of gruyere cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon of butter (for greasing the dish)
  • Optional: Fresh herbs for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a casserole dish with butter.
  3. Peel and slice the potatoes thinly.
  4. In a large bowl, mix the heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
  5. Layer half of the potatoes in the greased dish.
  6. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes and sprinkle with half of the gruyere cheese.
  7. Repeat with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and gruyere cheese.
  8. Top with grated Parmesan.
  9. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.
  11. Let it sit for a few minutes before serving.
  12. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
