- 4 bratwurst sausages
- 1 cup beer
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon black peppercorns
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 cups sauerkraut
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion, sliced
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine beer, brown sugar, mustard seeds, black peppercorns, and bay leaf to create the brine.
- Add bratwurst to the brine and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté sliced onion until translucent.
- Remove bratwurst from the brine and grill or pan-fry until cooked through.
- In the same skillet, add sauerkraut and cook until heated through.
- Serve bratwurst topped with sauerkraut and sautéed onions.
