Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Cupcakes:
    • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 tsp baking powder
    • ½ tsp baking soda
    • ¼ tsp salt
    • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 2 large eggs
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • For the Nutella Swirl:
    • ½ cup Nutella
  • For the Frosting:
    • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 2 cups powdered sugar
    • ¼ cup cocoa powder
    • 2 tbsp milk
    • ½ cup Nutella

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with paper liners.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract and mashed bananas.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Drop a spoonful of Nutella into each cupcake liner, then use a toothpick to swirl it into the batter.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Let the cupcakes cool completely before frosting.
  9. For the frosting, beat together the softened butter, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and Nutella until smooth and creamy.
  10. Pipe the frosting onto the cooled cupcakes and enjoy!
