Ingredients

Scale
  • Meatballs:
    • 1 pound ground beef
    • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
    • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
    • 1 large egg
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Awesome Sauce:
    • 1 cup barbecue sauce
    • 1/2 cup grape jelly
    • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  3. Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until they are browned and cooked through.
  5. While the meatballs are baking, prepare the Awesome Sauce by combining barbecue sauce, grape jelly, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until smooth and heated through.
  6. Once the meatballs are done, remove them from the oven and transfer them to the saucepan with the sauce. Stir to coat the meatballs evenly.
  7. Simmer the meatballs in the sauce for an additional 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  8. Serve warm, garnished with additional parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Make-ahead: You can prepare the meatballs a day in advance and store them in the refrigerator before baking.
  • Storage: Leftover meatballs can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Substitutions: Ground turkey or chicken can be used instead of beef for a lighter option.
