- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 3/4 cup milk
- 2 cups apples, peeled and diced
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the cold butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the milk until just combined.
- In another bowl, combine the diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
- Roll out the biscuit dough on a floured surface and cut into circles.
- Place a spoonful of the apple mixture on half of the circles and top with the remaining circles.
- Seal the edges with a fork and place on a baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a sweeter filling, add more brown sugar to the apples.
- Serve with vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
- These biscuits can be made ahead and frozen before baking.
